Yes. I believe that the 1st black guy in front of the Ammo box is me. Keep in mind that these events occured almost 44 years ago. I arrived at Camp Evans around August 3 or 4, 1968 from An Khe. I was assigned the 3rd platoon by CPT Meara. I remember returning from a patrol and another unit that was parallel to mine tripped a large bobby trap and either severely wounded or killed two fellow soldiers. Were you with the platoon when we rescued a 4 man LRRP team? The team spent the night with us and was left behind the next morning. That was the worst feeling I ever had. About a day or two after the completion of LZ Billie, I was replaced by a heavy set LT with a moustache, who suffered from heat exhaustion. I moved to the weapons platoon and then reassigned to MACV.
Do you remember the incident in the rubber plantation where a gentleman in what appeared to be a white tennis outfit engaged in a heated conversation with CPT Meara.
My email is goongma@yahoo.com. Please send me a message and I will send you phone number or you can send me your number and I will call you. Look at my profile on the web page.

To hgreen; I dont remember the heavy rain at camp evans.Igot to Nam 0ct. 8,1968.Camp evans was my first assignment. A guy named Jim Leonard was tall, slender, blond and had a mustache. He got in touch with me in 2005 and now we see each once a year and talk on the phone a few times a year. In nam he knew Willie Brown and Citille. When did you leave the third platoon? Here are some more names.Gary Zearott,Ohmer Gabbard and Joe Daniels. I have never tweeted so I never got your phone number.

To hgreen. we probably knew each other. I knew SGT. castro also. I was in the third platoon and moved from camp evans and helped build LZ BILLY. I was in the firefight that killed our captain.

Hi Steve. I am happy to hear from you. I have a picture of me and SFC Castro at Camp Evans in ’68. I am quite sure we knew each other. SPC Mott was the platoon medic if I am not mistaken. Willie Brown was the M-60 gunner. Kenneth Citelli was a squad leader, so was James Poole. Were you with the platoon during a period of heavy rain when we were stranded for perhaps a week in the foothills around Camp Evans? I don’t remember our first sgt’s name however, I believe he and another trooper brought supplies on a ”mule” to our position in the hills.
Who was the slender rifleman with blond hair and a moustache? There was another member of the platoon who was well know for chasing down one of our adversaries and dispatching him with a .45. This happened prior to my arrival and I can’t remember his name. I also met CPT Meara’s brother LTC John Meara in Montgomery when he attended a career school at Maxwell AFB. He invited me for dinner where I met his lovely wife. Sir, if you read this thanks again for an outstanding dinner.
Steve, my phone number is in a tweet I sent you. If you have the time give me call one of these days

I know it’s a day or two late but do any of you guys remember sitting in that field on the 3rd of December, listening in on the PRC-25 while Delta Company was getting mauled? I remember when Delta’s com guy got killed or wounded and all of a sudden there were gook voices on our radio! That sent chills down my spine knowing that guys were dying over where they were and that we were waiting on choppers to take us right to the fight.
I guess it was fortunate for us that the choppers didn’t come until the next morning but maybe not so fortunate for Delta.I think Charlie Company walked in to help Delta on the 3rd and we went in on the morning of the 4th. It was an ugly place!
